dormakaba star cross, star, 20, and 8 are high-security mechanical double-cylinder master key systems designed to provide secure, flexible, and reliable access control for residential, commercial, institutional, and high-security buildings. The patented star and star cross systems offer advanced protection against unauthorized key duplication, featuring five to eight rows of pins with up to 26 simultaneously usable pin positions, hardened steel contact pins, patented key profiles, and optional RFID transponder integration with dormakaba electronic access systems. The 20 system is a patented factory-produced locking solution, while the 8 system is a flexible dealer-assembled mechanical locking system for faster delivery. Manufactured in Wetzikon, Switzerland, the cylinders comply with EN 1303, DIN 18252, and RoHS 2011/65/EU, achieve up to Attack Resistance Class D with carbide steel inserts, weigh 0.259 kg, are tested for a minimum of 100,000 locking cycles, and provide an expected 15-year service life, with spare parts available for more than 30 years.
The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is prepared in accordance with ISO 14025 and EN 15804+A2 and is independently verified by the Institut Bauen und Umwelt (IBU). The declaration follows a cradle-to-gate with options life cycle assessment covering A1–A3, A4, A5, C1–C4, and Module D, evaluating environmental impacts from raw material extraction, manufacturing, transportation, installation, end-of-life processing, and recycling potential. The star mechanical double-cylinder system has a Global Warming Potential (GWP A1–A3) of 0.382 kg CO₂e per cylinder set, incorporates approximately 0.193 kg of secondary (recycled) material, and is designed for 100% collection, with approximately 0.213 kg recovered for recycling at the end of its service life. The EPD provides transparent, independently verified life-cycle environmental data to support LEED, BREEAM, and ESG reporting.
